AccountabilitiesApplicants for this particular role must have significant experience in the aforementioned power electronics areas, specifically battery management and an understanding of lithium-ion cell technology. The senior power electronics for battery systems role will involve: •The development of battery management systems and assessment of alternative battery management solutions and topologies, depending on the product requirements •Ensuring battery management systems meet regulatory and company requirements for safety •Ensuring designs can comply with relevant EMC standards and modifying designs where needed to ensure compliance •Design of battery powered products to meet global requirements
SkillsEducation and experience: •Minimum BEng/MEng degree in Electronic Engineering or other relevant discipline with a demonstrable level of industrial experience in a relevant industry •Experience of Lithium-ion battery management. Minimum technical knowledge: Applicants should ideally have experience in the following areas: Design of battery management power electronics for low voltage battery systems: ◦Experience of designing battery management systems, especially for Lithium-ion technology, and experience of designing associated safety systems ◦Knowledge of relevant safety standard standards for Lithium-ion battery packs for consumer appliances ◦Thermal design – ability to design a battery pack to ensure thermal safety and understand the implications of battery pack temperature on performance. Knowledge and design of heat sinks Analogue hardware design: ◦Experience of analogue amplification and signal conditioning circuitry ◦SMPS and linear power supply design for digital and analogue electronic systems Digital hardware design: ◦General knowledge of microcontrollers, preferably including ARM Cortex M series
