A key role that supports the Blueprint mission to significantly grow personal care contribution, we have a new opportunity to join the CST team on a 9 month FTC. The Senior Competitor Analyst will proactively identify and/or respond to emerging competitor threats within the personal care category.
This role provides accurate analysis on the worldwide competitor market (excluding the North-American competitor market) and product trends to support the activities of the Legal team, the Markets, Group Commercial and RDD.
Market OverviewHome to our global Research, Design and Development centre and all of our Commercial functions, Dyson HQ is tucked away in countryside famous for the railway tunnels and bridges of Isambard Brunel, who revolutionised modern engineering. Our secluded location helps us to protect our ideas and stay independent-minded. Yet nearby are the fashionable cities of Bristol and Bath (where a young James Dyson invented cyclone technology).
Function OverviewAs part of the legal department, the competitor strategy team is Dyson’s frontline – keeping eyes and ears to the ground about anything in Dyson’s interest, whether that’s products, market intelligence or new technologies. An international team with hubs in the UK, US and Asia, they report back to our engineers, and protect Dyson’s advantage, testing others’ claims about their own and Dyson’s machines and taking action where necessary. It’s an agile team with agile minds – ready to flex priorities when there’s an announcement that could affect Dyson – rapidly collecting and distributing knowledge.
Analyse key/emerging competitors, technologies and trends that could impact Dyson’s business and utilise this information to formulate actions plans
Proactive collection and analysis of market data to monitor key competitor activities and identify emerging competitors
Overseeing the testing process (this will be managed by analyst reporting into you)
Lead regular calls with the key markets to discuss competitor activities and Dyson’s responses.
Support the category legal strategy by interrogating claims made by our competitors
Line management of a Competitor Analyst
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Interest and understanding of consumer, market and product trends in the personal care category.
Excellent analytical skills coupled with a proven attention to detail and ability to identify key trends in market data.
Familiarity with or ability to understand technical issues.
