The Lean Engineer is responsible for the implementation of Lean manufacturing principles, tools and best practices within Dyson operation which covers external manufacturing partners and new business units (motors).
This includes Lean tools training, leading value stream mapping activities, facilitate Kaizen (improvements) event and participate in cross functional teams to support effective use of manpower and materials to achieve lowest overall cost.
Responsibilities will also include Lean project management, continuous improvement, monitoring results of productivity initiatives and performing benchmarking activities to achieve World Class Manufacturing.
Facilitate, execute and manage Lean projects with operations cross functional teams to deliver significant cost saving by deploying Lean tools and methodologies (within Dyson and external manufacturing partners)
Serve as Lean content expert to build process improvement knowledge within Dyson and external manufacturing partners.
Train and mentor teams to drive improvement initiatives across the organization.
Identify best practices and copy across all manufacturing sites to achieve quick deployment of ideas and standardization.
Ensure all improvements are documented, sustained and adhered by all stakeholders.
Ensure all solutions do not affect product quality or reliability adversely.
Perform Lean assessment on a monthly basis to understand Lean maturity level for all manufacturing sites.
Perform Gap analysis and drive manufacturing sites to achieve targeted Lean maturity score by working closely with senior management team.
Perform other assignments as required.
Develop training materials and train users in all tools, measurements and procedures.
Identify and implement continuous improvement process in Contract Manufacturer (KAIZEN).
Work with cross functional teams to improve working environment and product throughput; and most importantly raise the level of awareness for lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
Drive LEAN across the various functions to meet targets/KPIs.
Act as Line Design expert matter
Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business or other related field of study.
5 years’ experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma preferable
Holder of Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Champion preferable
A formal Project Management qualification is desirable but not essential
Proven experience of leading successful teams and managing projects on time, to specification and within cost constraints
Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing techniques and limitations is desirable.
Strong communicator; ability to convey complex issues concisely and accurately
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build productive working relationships and influence
Excellent analytical skills; to be able to assess problems thoroughly and drive logical conclusions
Strong Lean Methodology and Six Sigma knowledge
Ability to think strategically with confidence and speed in execution.

Ability to successfully manage cross functional teams with a collaborative/mentoring style.
