This is a project management role that will be managing multiple projects, multiple environments and the details in the setup of those environments (including hardware, software platforms and AV equipment) in the offices.

Market Overview

In 2000, Dyson moved production from Malmesbury to Malaysia to be closer to our supply chains and open up international growth. The small team of 10 has now grown to almost 1,200 – forming Dyson’s second biggest global hub. Located in the exhilarating industrial heart of Johor, it’s also home to RDD, IT, operations,  finance, creative and HR.
The RDD facility is central to our plans to launch 100 new machines in the next four years. To meet these ambitions, we recently expanded the site to 30,000m², with 50 advanced technology labs and 700 new engineers. In the Dyson world, there’s no more exciting place to be.

Function Overview

Ensuring Dyson’s IT infrastructure performs around the clock, around the world, isn’t easy. And as we expand geographically, taking on more people and more complex enterprises, our IT needs to continually evolve to face new challenges. Our hub of technical architects thrives on empowering and protecting Dyson with the latest and best business transformation technology. From servers and storage, to database management, network configuration, communications and collaboration tools, we’re investigating the future and providing global solutions.

Accountabilities


  Assess the requirements of the project and recommend suitable IT solutions 

  Analyze different options and recommend the most appropriate solution 

  Work on improving the IT infrastructure of the company

   Recommend upgrades and new systems that will be more useful for the project

   Prepare cost estimates of IT infrastructure

   Coordinate delivery of the project with IT staff, internal stakeholders, consultants, vendors and suppliers

   Meet with managers of different departments and assessing IT infrastructure needs

   Engage with IT Team to map out the requirements of the IT infrastructure

   Plan and supervise installation of IT infrastructure in the offices

   Ensure that the projects are completed within the given time frame, on budget and within scope.

Skills

  • Experience in managing IT projects, including setting up of infrastructure for new offices
  • Good knowledge about all aspects of information technology specifically with complex infrastructure

  • Experience in managing expectations of stakeholders and management
  • Ability to actively manage a critical path which allows for a line of sight into risk/issues before they have
  • project/program impact
  • Previous hands on infrastructure experience with VMWare, CISCO network switches and new office
  • setups
  • Excellent analytical and observation skills
  • Ability to keep up with latest developments in the field and upgrade IT infrastructure
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent planning and organization ability
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving abilities


Education and qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Information Technology
  • At least 6 years experience in IT infrastructure with at least 3 years experience in a project management
