HR at Dyson, is fast paced, challenging and rewarding. You will provide the day to day operational guidance and direction to your business areas to enable effective people management across all levels.  You'll give strategic insight to the people planning process that support longer term plans to recruit, retain and develop great people passionate about Dyson.  An effective communicator is a must and you will easily build relationships at all levels to enable the support, advice and challenge of people practices within the business.  

Market Overview

The building is the heartbeat of Dyson. Nearly 3,000 people, including James himself, spend their days strategizing, inventing technology and telling the Dyson story to the world. In 2017, our HQ will double its footprint with an ambitious new expansion.

Function Overview

Dyson is a technology business that values people above all else. This puts HR at the heart of the business – with specialist functions for Talent Development, Acquisition, Operations and Rewards. The HR Generalist function is the linchpin of all of these departments. We oversee every people-related decision, with unique knowledge of the bigger business and commercial objectives. Which makes us a vital voice in the boardroom at Malmesbury HQ. 

Accountabilities

Drive delivery of HR strategic initiatives

To be successful in HR at Dyson, you need to think and act commercially. You need to understand your business areas and provide appropriate challenge to be a key contributor to key business decisions. This could include project managing organisational changes resulting from strategic initiatives or with Managers developing departmental people plans

Provide proactive operational support to the Management team

Recruitment, ER responsibility, Line Manager capability, advice on HR policies and everything else in between. The role is varied and stretching with a huge amount of autonomy. 

Support and drive Talent Management

We are on an incredible growth journey, and therefore ensuring we have the right talent, in the right roles at the right time is critical to our success. You will therefore be identifying succession moves and identifying critical roles, always looking ahead to ensure we stay future proof. Supporting Line Managers to hold them to account, on levels of capability and potential they have in their teams

Skills

We are looking for candidates that can demonstrate previous HR experience where they have had to manage their own ER workload and can evidence working in change management projects. A strong understanding of employment law is essential, as is the ability to demonstrate that you can work at pace and therefore understand the challenges this can bring when prioritising your workload. Preferably degree educated, you will show that you have progressed at a good pace and will want to continue to progress your career with us. Hungry to deliver results and  demonstrate excellent working relationships, you will come with a proactive solution focused approach.
