DescriptionWe’re currently seeking a customer-centric Business Analyst to join our Business Intelligence Team in our world class Product development department. We’re responsible for the reporting and analysis of projects to all levels of the organisation from our Engineers to the Exec. The data we provide is used to drive decisions across the business. The team plays a vital role in supporting the engineering function of approximately 3000 technicians, scientists and engineers worldwide. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Business Analyst who would like to further their career within a growing and successful company. With a combination of hands on experience and training we will offer you the chance to develop your skills and experience here at Dyson.
Market OverviewHome to our global Research, Design and Development centre and all of our Commercial functions, Dyson HQ is tucked away in countryside famous for the railway tunnels and bridges of Isambard Brunel, who revolutionised modern engineering. Our secluded location helps us to protect our ideas and stay independent-minded. Yet nearby are the fashionable cities of Bristol and Bath (where a young James Dyson invented cyclone technology). The building is the heartbeat of Dyson. Over 2,000 people, including James himself, spend their days strategising, inventing technology and telling the Dyson story to the world. From 2016, our HQ will begin doubling its footprint with an ambitious new expansion.
Function OverviewThings move quickly at Dyson. In twenty years, what began with one man and one idea has grown into a global technology company, with 6,000 people and a presence in over 70 countries. From Malmesbury to Malaysia to the US to Australasia and many countries in between, we’ve sold over 80 million machines. And it’s just the start. From 2017 our Malmesbury HQ is doubling its footprint. The US, our biggest market, is doubling their sales scope. And new frontiers are opening up across South East Asia and beyond. More people, more ideas and more space for more invention. The next four years will be our biggest and busiest yet.
AccountabilitiesYou’ll be responsible for ensuring that the reporting needs of the stakeholders are met, you will be close to the action, with a keen eye for further opportunities with new and existing stakeholders. You’ll need to develop a good understanding of the business domain and when needed, produce requirements to enable the technical team to create solutions to meet business problems. A key strength will be a pro-active approach when problem solving, identifying improvements and quickly implementing work-arounds whilst identifying the longer term needs of the business.
You will need to act as the bridge between customers, the technical team and the central IT function to provide clarity in situations where there may be little or no existing knowledge of the business domain or new issues that arise. You will be the customer champion for a number of new and exciting reports and data sources to help drive further business value.
