The Data Engineering Manager and their team will lead the development of Dyson's next generation data environment, building on the latest cloud technologies. From structured to unstructured data, they will ensure it is secure, accessible, and useful.

Market Overview

Building our analytical capabilities is a core pillar of Dyson's new global data strategy. As more consumers engage with Dyson, via more types of products, and across more markets, the volumes of data will greatly increase. Understanding how to use this data to improve everything from customer experiences to product development will be key to Dyson's success.

Function Overview

This role will report to Dyson's Head of Data, and sits within the Global Data and Analytics team. This team is tasked with ensuring that the various parts of Dyson's business are able to leverage rich, accurate, and timely data to generate insights and make better decisions. As a part of IT, the team has the resources and the remit to keep up with Dyson's impressive global growth.


As the Data Engineering Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the continued evolution of our cloud data lake and data warehouse. Your team will be tasked with ensuring that we are making the right design decisions both from a technology as well as a governance perspective. Working closely with the other developers you will ensure that we are building an integrated solution and not another silo.


You will have experience building or managing data warehouses and/or lakes, preferably having worked with AWS, GCP, or Azure. You dream of SQL and schemas, and are particularly passionate about pipelines. You will have an understanding of any number of the following: Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Presto, Redshift, BigQuery, Flume... unlike most people, you know what they mean, how they work, and when you would use them. Ideally you will be comfortable working with Python as well.
